From Harm Reduction Victoria :  An update on our Executive Officer, Jenny Kelsall

09 October 2017

Jenny returned to work at the end of July following some well-deserved long service leave.

She’d barely got her office chair warm before she had an unlucky fall at home which resulted in her being admitted to Footscray Hospital with a broken hip.

While Jenny was in hospital, the doctors investigated some other health issues she had been experiencing and unfortunately discovered her liver to be cirrhotic and detected a tumor.

This has since been diagnosed as liver cancer – the result of a chronic Hepatitis C infection.

Jenny is currently at home with family, resting and recuperating from her broken hip.

She is also working with her medical team on managing the liver cancer.

It really saddens us to say that at this stage it is unlikely that Jenny will be returning to work in a full-time capacity, although she will continue to contribute to HRVic as much as her health allows.

While Jenny is greatly missed, the HRVic Board and Staff wish to take this opportunity to assure our community and stakeholders that all of our important peer-driven health promotion activities

and interventions continue as usual.

With Charles Henderson acting in the Executive Officer role, our dedicated and committed HRVic Staff and the Board are working together to ensure operational stability in these difficult circumstances.

Everyone here at HRVic is wishing all the very best for Jenny at this time.

For those of you who know Jenny personally, she can still be contacted via her mobile phone.

Robyn Dwyer, President

on behalf of the HRVic Board and Staff
